Meet Kristine Reid

Meet Kristine Reid, one of our Best Parts at NAPA.  We interviewed Kristine about her career here at NAPA and asked her what advice she would give others who are interested in working at NAPA or educating others who perhaps never thought about a Career at NAPA. Thank you Kristine, we enjoyed interviewing you!


NAPA – What is your current job?

Kristine – I’m the Human Resources Manager for the NAPA Distribution Center in High Point, NC.


NAPA – What are you responsible for in your current role?

Kristine – As a Human Resources Manager we are in the business of people. It is important in this position to see the big picture of how every decision impacts the business, not only now, but in the future. Recruiting and onboarding a team that fills the various needs of your group is an important aspect, you must bring in talent to grow your leadership bench, your store teams, your distribution centers, and make sure you have the right associates in the right positions. Then you have to ensure that team is trained and engaged in their business area so as to be a productive members of the team. Safety awareness, payroll, performance reviews, training, workers compensation, unemployment claims, accountability, employee engagement, rewards & recognition, legal compliance, policy & procedures compliance, and attendance tracking are a few of the other hats that we wear as HR Managers.


NAPA – What position(s) have you held at NAPA?

Kristine – HR Manager


NAPA – What type of job(s) did you have prior to coming to NAPA and what industry did you come from?

Kristine – Most of my career was spent in big box distribution centers in operation management positions where I supervised / managed groups in warehousing functions from picking/packing operations to shipping and receiving, then I moved into Human Resources Management.


NAPA – Do you have to love cars and know everything about a car to work at NAPA?

Kristine – Oh no! I tried to put the oil down the dipstick spout when I was 16, I knew from that point that I knew nothing about cars other than how to drive them!


NAPA – Has it been challenging as a woman working at NAPA?

Kristine – Not at all. Most of the fields I have worked in were predominately male from the US Army to Distribution Centers to of course NAPA, but I have never found it particularly challenging.


NAPA – Do you have to have special education/certifications to work at NAPA?

Kristine – In some positions a certain educational level is preferred / required as well as being ASE certified, but NAPA offers many positions and opportunities to advance without any specialized education or certifications.


NAPA – What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at NAPA and what type of people(skill sets, personality, etc.) does NAPA look for to work here?

Kristine – When I am looking for candidates, I am looking for team-players that have a drive and an ambition to succeed at all levels. We are a place that enjoys seeing people meet their personal needs through meeting the needs of the company and our customers.


NAPA – What is the culture/values at NAPA?

Kristine –  From my experience, NAPA is about ensuring we meet the needs of our customers and shareholders by continuously building our brand and growing our market penetration. Our customers know that we will take care of their needs and that we are committed to being a business partner that will help them to grow their business.


NAPA – What makes you successful in your position at NAPA?

Kristine – As an HR Manager you are only as successful as your team. With that being said, I am surrounded by a great team of professionals that are committed to growing and engaging their associates, driving sales, and taking care of customers.


NAPA – Finally, we asked Kristine what she does for fun when she is not working at NAPA?

Kristine – In my time outside of NAPA I enjoy swimming, reading, movies, and watching my daughter play volleyball.
