Elliott, No. 24 Team’s 600 Ends Prematurely After Early-Race Incident
The No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS team’s hopes ended early after being involved in an on-track incident in the 600-mile Memorial Day weekend event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Elliott started Sunday night’s race in third. Despite losing a position while testing out the high line, Elliott maintained a top-five position running fifth as the race began to unfold.
On Lap 19, Elliott struck a piece of debris dropped by another car, causing damage to the No. 24 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet SS. As Elliott’s car slowed in the low lane, a competitor smashed into the No. 24 machine causing both cars to spin.
The accident ended Elliott’s day with a 38th-place finish after just 19 laps.
