Daniel Hemric delivered a stout points night at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday evening and scored his fifth consecutive top-10 result. The driver of the No. 19 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet Silverado RST earned 38 points, fourth-most of all drivers in the field, along with an eighth-place finish. The result is Hemric’s eighth top-10 finish of the season and pulled to within 10 markers of second in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series standings.

Hemric’s consistent effort began as he maintained position inside the top-five in the opening laps after qualifying sixth. The handling balance on his Chevrolet was close to optimal at the drop of the green flag and ran inside the top five for the first half of Stage 1. A swing to the tight side near the end of the opening stint hampered Hemric’s progress as he was scored seventh at the end of Stage 1 on lap 30 to record four points.

A four-tire pit stop under the stage yellow, along with fuel and air pressure adjustments allowed Hemric to restart seventh on lap 39. Hemric was rock solid in the second 30-lap section of the race and took the sixth position on the final lap of the segment on lap 60. Overall, Hemric liked his balance during the second stage and pitted for his second four-tire stop of the night during the caution period.

Hemric restarted eighth on lap 69 and was free of the race’s lone accident for caution on lap 70 which occurred directly behind him. The final 57 laps ran under the green flag and featured a round of green flag stops. Hemric held the eighth position when he came to pit road for his final stop of the night. The NAPA Auto Care team returned him to the track in 23rd as the pit cycle gradually unfolded. While stringing consistent laps together, Hemric rejoined the top-10 with eight laps to go on lap 124, and took the checkered flag in eighth position for his fifth-consecutive top-10 run.

“We had a pretty well-balanced NAPA Auto Care Chevy, overall,” Hemric said. “I felt like our truck had a lot of capability tonight and had some decent speed. We were pretty snug most of the night and just got way too loose after the green flag pit stop at the end. It’s not the finish we wanted, but good to have a great points night and keep stockpiling them. Everything matters in the regular season to finish well to get those playoff points at the end of the regular season. We’ll take the positives from tonight and get focused for Nashville next week.”
