Massey’s All American Debut Ends Early

Mason Massey finished 17th in the NAPA Auto Parts 150 at All American Speedway, the home track for the Bill McAnally Racing team, after running inside the top-five for much of the first half of the race.

Massey qualified fifth and settled into sixth on the opening lap before moving forward to fifth by lap 25. Following the lap 33 restart, he advanced to third on lap 34 by passing the points leader before settling into fourth.

Massey remained inside the top five through the halfway point as the field worked through heavy lap traffic and was running fourth when the lap-85 caution flew. The Douglasville, Ga., native was forced to pull the NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS off the track with an issue following the lap-85 caution, ending his night early. Massey would finish 17th after completing only 87 of the 150 laps.

“Really unfortunate end to our night,” Massey said after retiring from the race. “We had a really good car, both Hailie (Deegan, teammate) and I were biding out time there in third and fourth. I was just working my way up into the top three before we had an issue. Huge thanks to everyone at the shop for their hard work. These Bill McAnally Racing Chevrolets were fast tonight and I’m happy Hailie could carry the flag for the team.”
