Sweet Snags Pair of Podiums at Eldora
Brad Sweet and the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team showcased their talent at Eldora Speedway last week as High Limit Racing made its debut at the world-famous Ohio dirt track. The NAPA team competed in the highly anticipated, $100,000-to-win Joker’s Jackpot event and left the “Big E” with a pair of podium finishes to maintain the points lead.
In the first day of competition on Wednesday, Sweet started off strong in qualifying by clocking a lap time of 13.101 seconds, placing the No. 49 sixth in Flight A. In heat race action, the Big Cat moved from a sixth-place start to fourth at the finish, placing him sixth to start Wednesday night’s feature. Sweet battled hard to advance to third when the checkered flag dropped on the main event, leaving him in a strong position for the following night.
On Thursday, Sweet was placed first to start his heat race based on his sixth-place position in points from the previous night. The NAPA No. 49 dominated, winning the heat race from the pole. Sweet carried that momentum into Thursday night’s feature, wheeling the No. 49 machine to a third-place finish after starting sixth, his second podium finish in as many nights.
The solid and consistent performances allowed Sweet to maintain his margin in the High Limit Racing points standings. The No. 49 team holds first place with 1,836 points, an 81-point advantage over second. The team travels next to Lernerville Speedway in Pennsylvania for a Tuesday night show before heading to Williams Grove Speedway to compete in the Summer Nationals with the World of Outlaws.
