Sweet Widens Points Lead with Consistent Performance at Lernerville

Brad Sweet and the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 team extended their High Limit Racing points lead in two nights of competition at the Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville Speedway. Sweet and the NAPA team showed consistency throughout the $50,000-to-win event with strong qualifying and heat results and a pair of top-seven finishes in the feature races.

Sweet started the weekend on Friday evening with a solid qualifying effort, posting the third-quickest lap time in Flight B of 13.071 seconds. That placed the Big Cat first to start his heat race, and he dominated from the drop of the green flag. The NAPA driver led every lap to earn the heat race win and secure his place in the dash.

The NAPA No. 49 machine was placed seventh to start the FK Rod Ends Dash, and Sweet held his ground in a competitive field, finishing seventh. The NAPA team stayed consistent in Friday’s feature, too, with Sweet starting and finishing in the seventh spot.

Saturday marked the final night of the Commonwealth Clash, and the NAPA team looked to improve after qualifying fifth in Flight B with a 13.470-second lap. Sweet started that climb forward in his heat race, where he improved from third to second.

That placed the NAPA car 10th to start the main event, and Sweet again worked his forward, making his way up to the fifth spot. After an open red flag, the Saturday night feature returned to green-flag racing. Sweet fell back a spot to sixth and ultimately ended the night with a sixth-place finish, marking another strong performance for the No. 49 team.

The steady performance at the Commonwealth Clash bolstered Sweet’s points lead. The NAPA driver currently holds a 245-point advantage over second place as the series heads into the final stretch of the 2024 season.
