Jake Bollman’s first ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW) start at Madera Speedway came to an abrupt end on Saturday evening when an engine issue soured his effort. The driver of the No. 19 NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet SS had started the event strong by posting the fifth-fastest laps in Saturday afternoon’s practice session and qualifying. Bollman was eyeing his second victory on a 1/3-mile track this season, but thick smoke billowed from his No. 19 as the field completed the first lap on Saturday night. The engine expiration forced him to the garage with an early retirement and a 16th-place finish.

“Just super unfortunate to have our night end that early,” Bollman said. “Our NAPA Auto Care Chevy was decent in practice and thought we could drive to the front once the green dropped. Unfortunately, we’ll have to move on and focus on Las Vegas.”
