Massey Records Top-Five Finish in First Colorado Appearance

Mason Massey recorded his fourth top-five finish of the ARCA Menards Series West season on Saturday night in his first trip to Colorado National Speedway. The driver of the No. 19 Mongoose Power Solutions Chevrolet SS came alive in the second half of the event to maintain his second position in the ARCA West championship standings.

Massey and the No. 19 team were searching for speed after Saturday afternoon’s practice and qualifying sessions, posting the seventh-quickest single lap in each. The Georgia native used the inside lane to grab the sixth position in the early laps after the green flag flew and claimed fifth position on lap 65 before the event’s halfway break after lap 75.

The second half of the event ran clean and green as Massey took advantage of his long-run speed to advance up the leaderboard. On lap 114, he took the fourth position from his BMR teammate Hailie Deegan and maintained that position until the checkered flag was unfurled. Massey’s fourth-place effort lowered his season-long average finish to 5.0, and he holds second in the standings after five of 13 events.

“Proud of our guys this weekend,” Massey said. “We didn’t qualify as good as we would’ve liked to, and we were fighting a pretty tight car the first half of the race. [Crew chief ] Ty [Joiner] made some good adjustments at the halfway break on our Mongoose Power Solutions Chevy and we were able to make it better and drive up to the top-five. We want to get back to victory lane soon, so we’ll keep working hard to make that happen at Tri-City in a few weeks.”
