Sweet Edges Closer to High Limit Racing Championship

Brad Sweet and the NAPA Auto Parts No.49 team delivered another solid performance this past weekend at the prestigious 4-Crown Nationals held at Eldora Speedway. Sweet showcased his speed and consistency throughout the two-day event, earning a podium and a top-10 finish and inching closer to securing the 2024 High Limit Racing championship.

The NAPA No.49 team started the weekend by topping the qualifying charts with a lap time of 13.117 seconds, securing the fastest overall time. In his heat race, Sweet advanced from fourth to third, setting him up for a strong run in the FK Rod Ends Dash. The Big Cat ultimately finished fifth in the dash after starting fourth, placing him in the third row for Friday’s feature. In the main event, Sweet made the right moves at the right time, charging from fifth to third for a podium finish.

On Saturday, Sweet’s podium performance from the night prior locked him directly into heat race competition. He once again showcased his skills in traffic, moving up to from fourth to third in his heat and punching his ticket to the FK Rod Ends Dash. Lining up second for the seven-lap dash, the NAPA No.49 held its line and finished in second. For Saturday’s main event, the Big Cat set his sights on victory lane. After battling in the top five for most of the night, Sweet ultimately crossed the line in seventh after having a right-rear tire go down for most of the race.

After another weekend of consistent results, Sweet remains atop the High Limit Racing standings with 2,871 points,  a 258-point lead over the second-place competitor. Heading into this weekend’s event at Florence Speedway, Sweet needs to add just 4 points to his cushion to mathematically clinch the 2024 championship.

“I’m proud of the team’s effort all weekend at Eldora,” said Sweet. “We had speed, and it’s great to leave here with strong finishes. Now we just need to stay focused and bring it home at Florence.”

The NAPA Auto Parts No.49 team looks ahead to this Saturday’s race at Florence Speedway, where Sweet has the opportunity to clinch his first-ever High Limit Racing championship.
