Elliott’s Day Ends Early at Dover
Chase Elliott and the NAPA AUTO PARTS team finished 39th in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover International Speedway after sustaining damage while trying to avoid a wreck early in the 311-lap race. The damage was terminal and ultimately ended the No. 9 team’s day after only six laps.
Elliott and the NAPA AUTO PARTS team rolled off the grid 17th after the top 20 finishers from Saturday’s race were inverted. Shortly after the green flag waved, Elliott suffered damage from a competitor checking up to avoid a multi-car accident on the front stretch.
The NAPA team was unable to repair the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE as the issue proved to be terminal. The misfortune left Elliott and the No. 9 team with a 39th-place finish.
