Sweet, NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 Team Add Two More Top-Five Finishes

Brad Sweet and the No. 49 NAPA AUTO PARTS Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR) team remain in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series points lead after finishing in the top ten at a mid-week show in New Jersey and scoring a pair of top-fives in two Ohio dates over the weekend.

The NAPA team started off the week with a visit to Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, NJ, on Tuesday, May 18th. With 30 cars in attendance, Sweet stopped the clock at a 13.426, timing in fifth-quick overall. The No. 49 team lined up second in heat two for the eight-lap sprint. Sweet finished third, lining him up eighth for the 30-lap main event. The NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 came home with another top-ten finish, crossing the line in seventh.

The KKR team then headed to Ohio for Friday night’s race at Attica Raceway Park. With 31 cars in attendance for the Kistler Engines Classic, Sweet went out early on in qualifying, turning a lap of 12.692 seconds. Qualifying sixth overall put the NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 on the outside of the front row for heat three. After a close battle with the 17, Sweet finished second, advancing to the Fast Pass Dash. Sweet drew the three pill out of the NOS Energy Drink can and went on to finish third as well. After 40 laps around Attica Raceway Park, the No. 49 team added another top-five finish to their stats for this season.

Saturday, the NAPA AUTO PARTS team visited Sharon Speedway, a track where Sweet has previously found success. Sweet qualified 11th overall against a field of 27 cars. With a lap time of 13.972 seconds, the Kasey Kahne Racing team lined up fourth in the second heat race. The No. 49 finished fourth, lining Sweet up 11th for the 35-lap feature event. After great battles all race long, the NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 came home fifth.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the NAPA AUTO PARTS No. 49 team makes their way to the state of Indiana for two nights of racing action. Friday night, the Kasey Kahne Racing team will be at Terre Haute Action Track, followed by the Memorial Day Spectacular on Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
